About the Artist

Larry Albright

Background

My artistic journey began at the York Academy of Art in York, PA, now known as PCAD – Pennsylvania College of Art, Lancaster, PA where I immersed myself in the world of commercial art. My career took flight at Armstrong World Industries, splitting my tasks between the Printing Department and the Print Art Department. Within a few short years, I was honored to lead the Art Department, eventually moving to the Corporate Advertising and Marketing Services Art Group. Along the way, I pursued evening courses at Millersville University while working at Armstrong, which enriched my skills and broadened my horizons. After graduating from Millersville University, I embarked on a fulfilling career path at Armstrong that included roles such as Senior Graphic Designer, Associate Creative Director, and ultimately Design Manager for the group.

My time at Millersville also sparked a passion for ceramics, where I discovered the beauty of wheel-thrown clay and the intricate chemistry of glazes. This newfound love led me to invest in my own studio, creating a harmonious balance between my clay work in my home studio and digital design job at Armstrong.

In 2006, I made the bold decision to leave Armstrong to launch Albright Design Studio, focusing on graphic print and web design. In 2021, I proudly passed the torch of Albright Design Studio to my son, Andrew Albright, who continues to serve small businesses and corporations with dedication and creative solutions.

Today, I cherish my free time while fulfilling daily responsibilities, and working with clay which allows me to express my creativity and craft functional art pieces for others to enjoy. Each creation is a testament to my journey, merging artistry with purpose. I revel in experimenting with new techniques and materials, always striving to push the boundaries of my craft. My studio is a sanctuary of inspiration where ideas flourish, and I invite you to explore the unique pieces born from my passion for pottery and design.
